The “Leipziger Hörspielsommer” is the biggest festival for audio dramas in Germany. Since 2003 several thousand visitors enjoy this annual open-air event, located in one of Leipzig’s beautiful city parks.

About 80 productions are presented during the ten-day festival – admission free! To please all ears we offer a program for children and teenagers in the afternoon, and an evening program for adults. Live-performances like readings, shows and live-audio dramas are introduced to the audience on the weekends to give new perspectives on the artistic interpretation of audio dramas.
In order to put a spotlight on aspiring authors and producers the Leipziger Hörspielsommer hosts two competitions for audio drama productions. These competitions provide a platform for networking and discussions and they also support young artists on their way towards professionalism.

The International Radio Play Competition will be held for the 10th time in 2012. Young artists – directors, speakers, writers – are welcome to hand in their finished productions. Three awards are going to be assigned, which include a broadcast by German radio station MDR Figaro.
Preconditions are that applicants do not work as professionals and that the productions are either in German or English. (Other languages may be approved as long as they are not essential for the understanding of the plot.)
